Some VENI stats (for 2007): In total 423 researchers submitted a research proposal, of which 91 were awarded (5 at Delft University of Technology). The proposals were judged by scientists in The Netherlands and abroad. Successful candidates were selected based on outstanding and original talent for innovative scientific research.

TU Delft Valorisation Centre -- Short: EU-, STW-, NWO-, of SenterNovem programma, Ministerie van EZ en/of VenW beleidsgelden.
Long: In an attempt to stimulate cooperation between the business sector, the government and the university, the TU Delft has set up a knowledge centre; the TU Delft Valorisation Centre. This programme is part of the 3TU Innovation Lab. In the Valorisation Centre, staff from a number of disciplines are developing activities designed to close the gap between the various parties. Methods include organising customer days for large businesses and providing the SME sector with assistance in research questions. YES!Delft (a partnership between the TU Delft and the municipal authority) has been set up to help start-up businesses. And for post-academic education or in-company training courses, the TU Delft can offer a wide range of possibilities via Delft TopTech.

ASCI DAS-3 overview and ASCI DAS-3 node namesa> -- Info and list of machines available for DAS/ASCI members, respectively.

KOALA -- a project that tries to tackle issues related to the coallocation of Grid resources, i.e., to allocate at the same time resources from different locations, possibly with different purpose and access policies. We participate with this project in the Dutch national program Virtual Lab for e-Science (VL-e) program, and in the EU Network of Excellence CoreGRID.

ServMark -- Testing, analyzing, and comparing grids and grid services. A ServMark manual draft.

I-SHARE -- a project on sharing technology at different levels in wired and wireless P2P systems. It is part of the BSIK programmme Freeband. Slashdot talks about the Steal This Film documentary on file-sharing.

DAS-3 -- a wide-area distributed system designed by the Advanced School for Computing and Imaging (ASCI), as the successor of the popular DAS-2 system.
Information about accounts and login on DAS-3 can be found on the official login accounts on DAS-3 page.In short, access to the DAS-3 is possible by logging in to the DAS-3 fileserver at one of the participating sites using ssh (secure shell). The DAS-3 fileserver at the Vrije Universiteit is fs0.das3.cs.vu.nl and the compute nodes are named node0XY.das3.cs.vu.nl (01 <= XY <= 85). The nodes at Leiden University are named fs1.das3.liacs.nl and node1XY.das3.liacs.nl (01 <= XY <= 32). The nodes at the University of Amsterdam are named fs2.das3.science.uva.nl and node2XY.das3.science.uVa.nl, (01 <= XY <= 40). The nodes at Delft University of Technology are named fs3.das3.tudelft.nl and node3XY.das3.tudelft.nl (01 <= XY <= 68). Condor -- a project that tries to tackle issues related to Hight Throughput Computing.

Askalon Abstract Grid Workflow Language (AGWL) -- a project that tries to deal with the intricacies of describing Grid workflow applications in an abstract way.

MPI-2 -- the worldwide project attempting to make MPI the promissed swiss-knife of the distributed, message-passing-based, programming paradigm. For more details on what MPI can actually do, the LLNL MPI Tutorial (coming from the LLNL tutorial series) and the (heavy) book Parallel Computing Works!, by Geoffrey Fox et al. should be more than enough. Or maybe the HPC at Indiana University workshop would also be needed?
