Welcome to the home page of the Parallel and Distributed Systems (PDS) group. Currently, PDS is one of the sections of the Department of Software Technology (ST), which is part of the Faculty Electrical Engineering, Mathematics, and Computer Science of Delft University of Technology.
The research of the PDS group concentrates on the modeling, the design, and the implementation of parallel and distributed algorithms and systems.
We have 4 faculty members and numerous postdocs and Ph.D. students. We are a member of ASCI, the Advanced School for Computing and Imaging, which offers graduate courses to our PhD students and opportunies for the senior researchers to meet.
The Section PDS has excellent computer and lab facilities. We have a 68-node cluster computer for our own research. Each node consists of two 2.5-GHz, single core AMD Opterons, giving a total of 136 CPUs. Total storage is 5 TB. All the nodes are connected by a fast Gigabit Ethernet network. The entire cluster is connected by a wide-area network to similar systems at other universities participating in ASCI. For more information about this system, called DAS-3 (Distributed ASCI Supercomputer), click here.
We also have a 4-node, dual CPU 14, high-uptime file server with 14 Terabyte disk storage.
